Library Display Planning for Beginners: Theme, Books, Shelf Talkers, Events, Decor & Review

This beginner template helps librarians and library committee members new to exhibit planning pick a monthly display's theme, books, shelf talkers, and events on one board. You then carry it through decorating and review. Across four pages, you write the aim and audience and set this month's theme, branch out into books, shelf talkers, and events, narrow the list and write the exhibit title and shelf talkers (blurb cards), then assign prep roles and log records during and after the display. The task board has four columns — Preparing, Decorated, On Display, and Reviewed — with one parent task per page and three subtasks each, all starting in Preparing. No exhibit-planning experience is needed — follow the examples, rewrite the notes, and co-edit with staff under limited sharing; embed the guide on your library's website. Keep book cover and interior images off any publicly shared board for copyright reasons, and start a fresh copy from this template for each new month.
