How Might We Question Reframing for Beginners: Turn Problems into Testable Ideas

Meeting facilitators and inquiry-learning teachers use this How Might We (HMW) question-reframing template for Beginners to turn stuck problems into testable ideas. The 4-page board starts by collecting 4 problems with examples, then reframes them into questions and picks one by checking for too wide or too narrow, then branches that question into 6 ideas and picks up to 3 to test, and finally tests each idea, logs results, and leaves the next question. The task board has 4 columns - Prep, Testing, Log Results, and Done - with 4 parent tasks matching the 4 pages and 3 subtasks each, from collecting problems to testing ideas. How Might We question reframing, popularized by IDEO and Stanford's d.school, works for any grade level or team size. Share the question board with participants using its public URL, or embed it on a school or team page.
