Board Game Night Host Plan for Beginners | Match Games to Players and Rules, Run the Whole Night

This beginner template helps first-time board game night hosts pick a date and venue, choose games, and run everything from table planning to cleanup on one board. Page 1 sets the date, venue, and guest list; page 2 sorts game candidates by headcount and rule weight; page 3 builds the table plan and preps the rules; page 4 runs the day and writes a retrospective. The task board has 4 columns and starts with 4 parent tasks in the same order as the 4 pages, each with 3 subtasks. The most common pitfall is a heavy game pulling everyone to one table while others just wait, so sorting by headcount and weight up front keeps table times even and no one gets left out. Share the game list with guests via a public URL, and for a monthly meetup, rebuild from this template and use recurring tasks to reset prep. Collecting entry fees or tracking money is not covered.
