Customer Success Onboarding for Beginners: Align Goals, Milestones, and Owners for One Client

First-time customer success managers at SaaS companies use this beginner template to align goals, milestones, and owners with one client, from first win to lasting adoption. Across four pages, page 1 aligns current and target state via gap analysis and lists stakeholders by role, page 2 maps five onboarding milestones and owners, page 3 picks one first win from candidate outcomes, and page 4 sets column rules and the next move from an adoption check. The task board has four columns - preparing, waiting on customer, in progress, and adoption confirmed - with four parent tasks matching the four pages, three subtasks each. Even first-timers can build a client-ready plan by filling in the sample text in order. Copy the client-facing plan to a separate board to share, and keep department assessments and other clients' details on an internal, private board. This board does not auto-track usage or send alerts, so it does not replace a dedicated CS tool.
