Class Kickoff for Beginners: Feelings Weather Map Board to Turn Feelings into Class Rules

Upper elementary and middle school homeroom teachers use this class kickoff template for beginners in the first homeroom of term to hear how students feel, as weather, and build class rules from it. Four pages. Page 1 sets the aim, the flow, and care for students who would rather not share; page 2 places hand counts in four weather areas (excited, a little worried, jittery, sleepy) and gathers what would make things better; page 3 rewords those voices as rule candidates, sorts them with MoSCoW (must, should, could, not this time), and picks three; page 4 plans how to post the rules and reviews after one week, one month, and term end. The teacher places the sticky notes at the interactive whiteboard, so no names or student numbers are written and the board is never shared by URL. The task board has four columns, with four parent tasks and three subtasks each. The flow table assumes 45 minutes and fits 50.
