PDCA Cycle Board for Beginners: Plan, Do, Check, Act One Loop at a Time and Keep the Record

Anyone learning how to run a PDCA cycle for the first time picks one work or study theme and finishes Plan, Do, Check and Act in two weeks with this beginner-friendly PDCA template. The left page of the whiteboard holds a theme and goal frame, a four-step PDCA chain of Plan, Do, Check and Act, a four-quadrant sort for what Check told you, and a six-step 5 Whys that takes the one thing that failed and asks why five times until you reach the root cause. The right page holds a five-step two-week schedule, an improvement history table for loops 1 to 3, and the three points beginners stumble on. The task board has five columns - Plan, Do, Check, Act and Loop done - and starts with 4 parent tasks and 12 subtasks, from choosing the theme through to Act, all not started. If you are unsure how to run PDCA or you stall halfway, narrow it to one theme, follow the worked examples and finish the first loop. From loop 2 the history table stacks up, so you can see later what actually worked.

Always measure the starting numbers before you begin Write the gap as "15-minute spread down to 8-minute spread" Keep the reason for the days you missed in the same box e.g. Act feels decided but the Plan of loop 2 is still blank Fix it. Copy Act into the Plan of loop 2 the moment you write it Transfer every loop into the history table so it stays on record If the numbers do not move after three loops, change the theme
