Resignation Roadmap: Work Back from Giving Notice to Your Last Day
A resignation roadmap template for people who have decided to quit, covering how to give notice to your manager, answer a counter-offer, use up your leave, hand over, and fix your last working day. The whiteboard holds a goal frame for the dates you will not move, a notice flow (manager, department head, written notice, announcement, handover), a countdown grid of what to do, by when, who to tell and where it stands, a Pros-Cons weighing what staying gains you against what it costs you, and a checklist of what to get in writing. The task board runs five columns from Preparing to Done, with five parent tasks - working back from your last day, setting the order people are told, preparing for pushback, settling leave and paperwork, and saying goodbye to clients - and 13 subtasks, none of them started. Notice periods and leave rules differ by country, so replace the day counts with your own; working from dates, order, and written records keeps resigning factual rather than emotional, right through to your last day.
