How to Write Mission, Vision, Values (MVV) for Beginners: From Proud Moments to Daily Actions

This MVV (mission, vision, values) template for beginners helps the leader of a small company, shop, or team put their purpose into words with 4 to 7 teammates in a half-day workshop. On four whiteboard pages, page 1 sets the aim and collects each person's proudest work, customer words, and what mattered; page 2 widens common words into mission (why we exist), vision (where we are heading), and values (how we act) candidates; page 3 puts circle stamps on candidates and checks clarity, fit, and action to settle one sentence each; page 4 gives each value a do and a don't example, owners and deadlines, and a review date. The task board has five columns, from preparing to reviewed, with 4 parent tasks and 3 subtasks each. The trick is to pick words from real proud moments and spell values out as daily behaviors. Members of a limited-visibility team can fill it in together.
